HOW MANY FINGERS MAKE A STATELY FIST?
SA GISHTA KA GRUSHTI I SHTETIT
A theater troupe arrives in Gerdec, 10 km east of the Albanian capital, Tirana. It plans to stage “Hamlet” in this small town, where a terrible explosion took place on March 2008: the plant to dismantling fire arms took fire and exploded. Many teenage kids, illegally employed in this plant, were among the victims of this real event. The plant managers had direct ties with the political power. The theater troupe arrives in Gerdec, looking for proper sites to stage their play. By now, this phantom town has replaced the Hamlet’s father’s Ghost. A ghostly person comes out to guide the troupe around town … This modest film is an artistic reaction to a horrible event. Furthermore, it shows how actual the location of Gerdec here is to the Shakespearian verve.
